Dear Tanner,
We celebrated your second Christmas a few days ago. You enjoyed standing on top of your biggest present, still nicely wrapped, saying "Ta da!". You got lots of cooking toys since that's what you love to do. Grandma Brenda even got you some real cooking utensils that you loved playing with all day and continue to play with.
Have I mentioned what a dare devil you are?! You climb, balance and jump off of nearly everything! Your new trick is climbing on top of the corner table and jumping onto the couch. Or when you are at Papa and Grandma LaMagna's you climb on top of their ottoman and jump onto the couch or into any bystander's arms whether they are looking or not. You've caused many of us to hold our breath! You've got no fear kiddo.
You got your tongue clipped last week because you were tongue tied. They put you to sleep to do it but you did so well before and after! Like nothing happened at all. You are such a brave tough little guy!
We will be celebrating 2014 in just a few short days! Can't believe how quickly this year went. You will be moving up to the toddler room before we know it at school. You are already practicing sleeping on a cot. You are getting to be such a big boy!!!!

Dear Tanner,
What a big guy you are getting to be!!! Your vocabulary now consists of Dog, Mama, Dada, Papa, that? and ball. I might be forgetting a few but those are your favorites. You are learning more and more each day. You still have that uncontrollable laughter and contagious smile too. You loved to be chased and you love it even more when Dominic does it!
For Halloween you were a cute little green dinosaur. You didn't quite get the concept of trick or treating until the very end. At first you tried crawling in everyone's house while Dominic chose his candy...if they had a dog you tried to pet it. At the very last house though the old man held the bowl out for you and you grabbed several hand fulls of candy and put it in your bucket. He said you could take all you wanted to. When we got back to Grandpa Terry's you spent more time taking the candy out of your bucket and putting it back in than eating it. You did however have a few smarties which you enjoyed.
You are doing awesome in school. I think you and Dwayne are finally friends. He used to push you around but you hold your own and he caught on. Now when you arrive he runs up to you and you laugh! What a change.
Grandpa Terry and Patti took you to get your first hair cut last weekend. You were 14 months old and way over due! You cried a little but for the most part you were fine. The good news is now you can see again!!

Dear Tanner,
Tonight you ran around, played with Dominic, took a bath and stretched out your vocal cords. When all of that was said and done you climbed up on the kid's rocking chair we have, stood up...as you sometimes do, and rocked it back and forth while standing on it and holding onto the back. I'm pretty sure you are going to be some kind of dare devil. After doing that a few times you curled up in it and rested your head on the arm of it. I thought for sure you were going to fall asleep right there. You closed your eyes a few times. But...no. You got up and enjoyed a few more minutes of freedom before bed.
On Friday we have your eye specialist appointment. We have to go get your pupil checked again. I'm hoping it's quick for your sake. I'll let you know how it goes. Of course if I forget to post on it...which is likely...ask me about it :). I'll let you know.

Dear Tanner,
You've had some major teeth coming in the last week or so. You haven't been eating much but you love frozen berries, bananas and sweet potato tots. You've also been very tired lately. I'm pretty sure you are going through a growth spurt! In no time you will be as big as Dominic!
On Sunday we went to Grandma Carolyn's camp. You loved playing in the dirt and with sticks as usual. You are such a busy bee! Always moving and wanting to explore everything. You could care less about being held. Unless of course it's bed time. Then you don't want to be put down but you are getting better with that.
You've also been working on your words. Anytime Daddy or I tell you the name of something you watch our lips intently and then try your best to repeat it. Your first word was of course Mama, then Dada. Now I'm pretty sure you are working on dog. We won't tell Dominic that you learned that before his name though ;). I'm so proud of your determination!

Happy FIRST Birthday Tanner!!!- 8/22/13
Dear Tanner,
It's official...you are ONE year old! It went by so fast!!! You have filled everyone's lives with so much joy with that big smile and amazing energy of yours! I knew when I found out we were having another boy that you and Dominic would have a bond like no other and you already do. You rough house with each other, make each other laugh and never go to bed without a hug and kiss from each other. I am so happy that the two of you will always have that bond only brothers have. You are always keeping Daddy and I on our toes. I think your favorite thing to do is make our hearts race by climbing on top of anything you can reach. You get that determined look in your eye, stretching your little legs like an acrobat to reach the top, pull yourself up into a standing position and look at us with that smile of yours. We let you enjoy the feeling of success for a few minutes before telling you to get down (don't worry we aren't too far away to catch you if you fall..but you never do). Occasionally you grunt for help to get out but that's only after you've attempted to yourself several times.
You're also such a lover. Cuddling in for hugs and resting your head on my shoulder or tilting your head to the side and flirting with the girls. Too cute! Speaking of love, today you climbed a whole flight of stairs for the first time and went right to Dominic's door to wake him up. I usually take you up with me to wake him up in the morning. Without fail you raise your little eye brows right before I open the door as if to say "Is he up yet?" Upon opening the door you peek in and with the biggest smile on your face let out a squeal and begin to jump up and down while I'm holding you. You did that today...only without me holding you and you also climbed his bed!
You are already SO independent. You are always doing your own thing...reorganizing the pan cupboards, sorting Daddy's cards, measuring the toilet paper (you know when you take it all off the roll?) and splashing around in the tub like nobody's business. A couple of weeks ago you actually waved goodbye to me for the first time when I dropped you off at daycare. You love it there and don't shed a single tear when I leave. Although part of me wants you to miss me just a little while I'm gone, I'm so glad that you are fine on your own.
You are our little determined, loving, independent guy Tanner. We love you SO much and we are so thankful to have you in our lives.

Dear Tanner,
You are a walking boy! You are walking more than crawling these days and even turning around while standing up. You've started Head Start and have finally stopped crying when we leave for the day. You are loving it there. You're doing projects daily and we even got to do your first ever homework assignment together. The family project for July was to decorate a fish! You and Dominic painted it, you with your fingers and Dominic with a brush since he can't stand having his hands dirty. We topped it off with some glitter and it looks great!
You love our dog Rickson. You are contsantly wrestling with him and he is so gentle with you! I've got to get a video of that by the way! You love playing with Dominic too. When he comes down stairs in the morning you smile SO big when you see him. I'm so glad that you love your brother!
You've been baby babbling up a storm lately too. You deffinitely know "Mama" which of course was your first word. You know "baba" now too. You are doing a great job eating too speaking of which. You LOVE meat loaf. You had it for the first time last night and you ate a TON of it! I'm glad you are becoming a better eater. You move around so much you are such a skinny little guy. We need to put some meat on those bones!

Dear Tanner,
In two very short weeks you will be starting a new daycare...Head Start. We met with one of your teachers last night and they have SO many exciting things in store for you! Music time every day, lots of crafts and outdoor time too! I am SO excited for you! Dominic will start going there in August or September.
You weighed in at 18 lbs at your nine month check up last week. You are in the 20th percentile for height and weight and 80th for head circumfrence...you take after the rest of us...big brains! You also had to get blood taken for a lead test and you were such a trooper. The nurse had to poke both of your arms because she couldn't get blood out of the first one. You cried for a couple minutes and then calmed right down.
You are growing up so fast little man. You want to be so independent and you are always getting into everything. Opening and closing cupboards constantly, trying to eat the dog's food playing with all of Dominic's toys. You are one busy bee! I can't believe you will be one in two short months!!!

Tanner,
You did it! You gained a pound four weeks after the doctor said you needed to beef it up. You are still a peanut but you are eating a ton! We got a walker for you that you have mastered! Too bad our kitchen is the only place you are able to wheel around in it. You are still getting around everywhere though...furniture surfing and bear crawling like a crazy man. You will be walking in another month or two and Dominic will be so excited!
You've been chowing down on puffs and cheerios too. Feeding yourself bottles and munching on snacks all by yourself. Little Mr. Independent!
You are loving playing with Dominic. You laugh so hard when he tries to tickle you and when he makes funny faces at you. The other day he crawled around with you on the floor and you thought that was great. I can't wait to watch the bond between the two of you grow. I have no doubt you will be best friends. You are already working on building that relationship. Take it from me...siblings are the best friends you will ever have. They know you better than anyone and can understand you better than anyone else you will ever meet!

Dear Tanner,
This morning you were a little cranky and wouldn't let me put you down. You must have more teeth coming in. As I put you down to get dressed you began crying again. With a few tears streaming down your face and your little lip curled under you looked up at me and said "Mama". I know you are only seven months old and most people think you were just babbling but it was clear as day and you said nothing else...just Mama. Of course I picked you up and continued to get dressed as I held you. You melt my heart little man.

Dear Tanner,
You had your six month check up on Tuesday this week. You are a little peanut weighing in at 15 pounds. The doctor said we need to beef you up a bit. You listened well because as soon as we left you ate two bottles! You have also been chowing down on your cereal, fruit and veggies since then. I'm betting your so little because you are CONSTANTLY on the move. We will keep working on putting the weight on you. You have another appointment in a month. Hopefully by then you will have gained a few pounds :).

Well kiddo...you did it...last week you started crawling. You are still perfecting the skill but you sure are getting around. You are also trying very hard to stand up. You go from crawling position to bear crawl constantly. We are so proud of you little guy! I'm betting you will be walking before you turn one!! You are so determined.

Dear Tanner,
Happy 2013! You are such a mover and shaker! We can't keep you still. Every time we lay you down you give everything you've got and try to sit up. You constantly roll over and push yourself up with your arms. You amaze us with you strength at four months old. You will be crawling before we know it and then you will be EVERYWHERE!
We went to the Museum of Play and you hung out with Mommy the whole time (see above photo). You didn't cry at all and took all the sights in. You never miss a beat little man.
I can't wait to see what you accomplish in 2013!!!
